Aptos is not generally compared to the world’s biggest shopping towns, like New York, London, or Tokyo – and with good reason! Aptos has a small-town vibe and most of the Aptos Shopping Centers identified on this page are casual, laid-back places where suit and tie are very much an exception, rather than a norm.
The largest shopping center in Aptos is the venerable Rancho del Mar Shopping Center, and it’s also one of the largest in all of Santa Cruz county. The Deer Park Shopping Center is a close second in size, with the Seascape Village shopping center close behind.
Here now is a very complete list of Aptos Shopping Centers. These centers represent the best of (if not the entirety of!) shopping in Aptos, and feature everything from supermarkets, fine dining, boutiques, clothiers, salons – virtually everything under the sun! Most of the Aptos shopping centers can be found right along Soquel Drive, between State Park Drive and Rio del Mar Boulevard. This “urban core” makes up the heart of modern-day Aptos, and all of these shopping centers are within a few minutes drive of each other.

The #1 business of Aptos – like the rest of Santa Cruz county – is tourism. People come from all around the world to enjoy our beaches, mountains, forests, and, of course, our sublime climate. When all these folks come to town, they’ll need a place to stay, of course – and there’s a wide selection of hotels in Aptos to accommodate them.
The largest and best known hotel is the Seascape Resort, located right on the coastline in south Aptos. There are few resorts of this type anywhere to be found in California, and it is unlikely any more will be built in the future, thanks to restrictions on coastal development enforced by the California Coastal Commission.
