Aptos Holiday Tree LIghting

T’is the season, once again! The Aptos Holiday Tree Lighting is Back for 2016, to be held on Saturday, December 3rd from 2PM to 5 PM at the entrance to Aptos Village Park. As in years past, there will be Christmas carols, free hot chocolate and cookies, and a visit from Santa Claus – and more! If December 3rd should prove too rainy, the event will be held instead on December 10th.

There will be some great entertainment on deck too, with performances by the Sam Nigh Band and Kristy’s School of Dance. And of course, there will also be a craft fair, with a number of local vendors participating including the Girl Scouts, 2nd Harvest Food Bank, Monterey Bay Gift Company, and many more.

Put it on your calendar and come on down – it’s a great time to mix and mingle, meet friends and neighbors, and get into the spirit of the season. Hope to see you there!

Breakfast with Santa!

November 17, 2015 by Seb Frey

Breakfast with Santa
Breakfast with Santa

Here’s a new twist on a holiday tradition: breakfast with Santa is coming to Aptos Village Park on Saturday, December 5th, at the Lions Clubhouse. The event begins at 10 AM and ends at 1 PM.

This is a fundraiser to support the new restrooms and concessions building for the Polo Grounds park. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for children under 12. Please bring your camera to take pictures with Santa!

This will be a wonderful event for families and children. The Polo Grounds is desperately in need of restrooms and a concession stand. Show your support for our community and our kids this Saturday December 5th!

We’ve created a Facebook Event for Breakfast with Santa – please invite your friends with kids, let’s make a great showing of support for this project, and spread some holiday cheer!

Free Family Movie Matinee at the Aptos Public Library

December 5, 2014 by Seb Frey

Aptos Library Movie Maintee
First Friday Movie Matinee at the Aptos Public Library

Did you know that there is a free family movie matinee at the Aptos Public Library? Yep, it’s true: the free matinee is held the first Friday of every month in the community meeting room, just to the right as you come in the front door. This month the movie is held today, December 5 at 3:00 PM, and they are showing Chicken Little.

This month, they are also having a special showing of the Muppet Christmas Carol. This will be in two weeks, on Friday, December 19. Don’t worry about not finding space – the meeting room holds nearly 70 people, and a good turnout at the movie would be about 20 folks in attendance. Here’s a great chance to get out of your house and watch a movie with your kids and friends from the Aptos community.

Dance Synergy Holiday Food Drive on Saturday

December 4, 2014 by Seb Frey

Second Harvest Food Bank Santa Cruz
Dance and Support Second Harvest!

The good folks at Dance Synergy in Aptos will host Holiday Food Drive on Saturday December 6 from 5:00 to 7:30 PM. You are invited to come enjoy yourselves with food, music and dancing! Please bring a donation of at least two non-perishable food items for the Second Harvest Food Bank. All gift certificates sold at the event will include a $15 credit toward the total value!

They have set themselves a very modest goal of just 100 pounds of food for the food drive, and they are already about 20% of the way there. 100 pounds is a modest goal – and it would be great if our Aptos community could help Dance Synergy blow that out of the water. So go on down and support a great Aptos business and the less fortunate in our community!

Best Santa Cruz Christmas Tree Lot is in Aptos

November 30, 2014 by Seb Frey

It turns out that the best Santa Cruz Christmas tree lot is in Aptos! This may be somewhat of a subjective statement, but what other Christmas tree lot in the county gives you free popcorn, hot cocoa, coffee, and hot apple cider? What other Christmas tree lot in town has a special crafts area for your kids to make holiday decorations while you shop for a Christmas tree?

They offer a full range of top notch Christmas trees, and they are all fresh and grown in the U.S.A. And the prices are reasonable, too – very competitive with Costco and other lots around town. If you’re shopping for a fresh live Christmas tree this year, go and check out the Christmas tree lot in Aptos Village – you’ll be glad you did! They accept cash, checks, and Visa/Mastercard.

The Aptos Christmas Tree Lot is located where Lucy’s Hot Dog stand is, which is next to Testorff Construction, which in turn is located right next to the Bayview Hotel.
