There was a community meeting last Thursday December 4th held at the Rio Sands Hotel regarding the arson and vandalism which has afflicted the Rio del Mar neighborhood of Aptos recently. Now, the founder of the Aptosia Facebook group, Jeremy Leonard, has posted an Aptos vandalism meeting video on YouTube. The video runs about an hour, and is embedded here below:
The meeting was headed by supervisor Zach Friend, Sheriff-elect Jim Hart, Santa Cruz County District Attorney Jeff Rossel, and Mike Conrad, the Chief of the Aptos/La Selva Fire District, with several other folks from the law enforcement community. From all accounts, the meeting was well attended, “standing room only.” An Aptos resident offered $1,000 for information leading to the arrest for those responsible, and that was matched by the Sheriff’s office.
In fact, the Sheriff’s Office is establishing a reward fund for information leading to the arrest of the person(s) responsible. Anyone wishing to donate to the reward fund can send a check or money order made payable to the Santa Cruz Sheriff’s Office at 701 Ocean Street #340, Santa Cruz CA 95060. In the note field please write “Aptos Arson Reward Fund.
