Heading Home Animal Rescue is holding what amounts to its first real fundraiser at Cafe Sparrow on Wednesday, June 1st. The owners of Cafe Sparrow have graciously agreed to donate a portion of the night’s dinner revenues to support this very worthy cause.
Heading Home has relied on adoption fees and very minimal monetary donations to cover the costs of their program for the entirety of its existence. They have no paid staff, and no overhead costs like buildings, vehicles, or fancy equipment. The organization is run on a shoestring budget, but like all non-profits, the money they earn from the fees they charge is not enough to cover all their operating cost.
Reservations for dinner (starting at 5:00 PM until closing) are recommended, and as long as you mention Heading Home to your server when you arrive, your meal’s cost will count toward the donation amount. If you’ve never eaten there, this will be the perfect opportunity! It is one of the very best restaurants anywhere in Santa Cruz county.
Please share this announcement with anyone and everyone you think might be interested in enjoying some great food and supporting this tremendous organization.

Founded in 2011, Heading Home Animal Rescue is a 501(c)3 (Federal Tax ID number: 45-1314568) non-profit dedicated to finding good homes for local shelter animals in need. Some of these pets just need help meeting their new family and getting out into the community, while others are too young to be adoptable when they enter the shelter, have medical needs, or are shy. While their needs are varied, our goal is to act as a bridge for those animals; we provide them the care, time, and love they need in order to be at their best when the right person comes along to take them home. We are few, but we are mighty, and we are committed to our community’s animals.
