This is the 10th anniversary of the Aptos History Museum, and the 86th year since the concrete ship, the S.S. Palo Alto, was docked at Seacliff Beach. It is fitting that Cathryn Grant’s final novel of the Haunted Ship Trilogy, Haunting the Beach, has just been released.
The last of the series is set in 1930 when the ship was brought to Aptos, and recalls the dining and dancing that made it famous. Using Prohibition as a key element, Grant continues the story of Mary King Carmichael who was ten years old at that time. In the final pages, the truth about the ghost that has haunted her all her life is revealed.
In addition to the Haunted Ship Trilogy, Cathryn is the author of seven Suburban Noir novels, and the Madison Keith Ghost Story series. Her short stories have been published in Alfred Hitchcock’s and Ellery Queen’s Mystery Magazines. Her newest story, Serious Damage, will be appearing in Alfred Hitchcock’s Mystery Magazine early next year.
Cathryn Grant’s novels can be found at Bookshop Santa Cruz and online bookstores.
